Guys,

As a concientious and friendly experienced Oracle DBA with access to some good code from Steve F., Tom Kyte and yes - even my own stuff - I have been writing standard modules (stored proces/packages) for some basic functions/utilities all good code should do.

I also did this as every COTS system didn't have some basic error checking, outputing, alerting. The added benefit is I can use it for my DBA tasks as well as to assist developers on good design/coding practices in the Oracle world.

Has anyone else done this kind of thing?

-one proc for outputting logs in a standard format
-one proc for exception handling and alerting
etc.

How have you communicated this to your developer groups. I find one at a time while we happen to be discussing something else to be the best approach.

What's the dead line? How long can I procrastinate?

Bill:

You must submit an abstract for presenting at both OracleWorld and IOUG Live! Upon approval by the conference committee (I am on that board), you must write a white paper, and the associated PowerPoint presentation. If you want specific details, go to www.ioug.org and look for IOUG 2003! And look at the paper submission page.

If not available, contact me directly and I can provide you with some insight. I am one of the senior FAMs on the committee.

Thank You
