I got Registered Nurse back in 1984, then went on to finish the pre-med curriculum (Isn't Organic Chemistry great?) before actually getting a degree in Math. I saw enough during school to know that, unless you can get into one of the better areas of Nursing, this is not something I would recommend. By "better" area, I mean something like labor and delivery, or operating room. I think there is quite a bit of "getting to know the right people" involved in getting one of these jobs. Plain old general floor nursing kind of sucks, and you will probably stay very busy most days (as in work your arse off busy). Psychiatric nursing is just the opposite -- very boring; you spend most of your day just observing.

Now welding: You get to cuss, belch, and let your pants be too low on your backside when you squat down. There's a MAN'S job for you! Yessss!

As for Oracle staying in the ball game ... I don't think they are stupid. If they have to lower their pricing, then they will lower their pricing.
