Yah, Linux does kind of give you the best of both worlds - doesn't it. Stability of Unix, same environment you are used to and cheaper hardware????

Very true, and in my opinion not really justified unless you're running an 8-way or bigger.

That was mostly NT, I run alot of win2k here (plus Mandrake) and it's pretty damn stable if you know what you're doing.

I like win2k, but I have to agree, *nix is more stable if you have a clue of what's going on.

It seems to me that you'd be better off moving to Linux instead of Windows. Less retraining, keep your good uptime, lower hardware costs, what's not to like?

Windows fakes it well, but it's not a true multi-tasking system, you'll get lower performance to some extent, although since you'll be able to afford better hardware your speed may actually increase.
