The behavior of less is configurable via an env var LESS.

Personally, I like programs that end when I am done with them. First time I ran into a system that had more as a link to less was quite an exercise in frustration, especially since less traps ^C. For those who haven't used it, when more gets to the end of a document it quits. When less gets to the end of a document it displays a prompt and waits for the secret password ('q'). ^C beeps (at least on our system), but does not let you out.

Is it Friday yet?
