They had to admit that their estimate for LINUX popularity were
"conservative" in the past.

I wonder why they call LINUX a disruptive platform...

   But Oracle did drop its price! It created Standard Edition. Most of us think that was in response to MS SQL. Just to add to the confusion, MS now offers SQL in Standard and Enterprise Editions. Maybe Oracle will offer a GNU version stripped of any features MySQL doesn't offer. They could call it
"SubStandard". But the bigger question is how/if a commercial enterprise can
compete with the free guys.

        Today META is offering the opinion that Linux will settle down and eventually reach an equilibrium with Windoz http://techupdate.zdnet.com/techupdate/stories/main/0,14179,2913403,00.html One factor mentioned in their economic analysis is "including the price of eventual migration". No details though.
