Rich,

Why would I want SAP to help with a database recovery?

If I need help with that, I will call Oracle, not SAP.

Not to mention that removing backint, brbackup, brarchive and brrestore from the recovery scenario eliminates the finger pointing that could go on between SAP and Oracle.

Regardless of what SAP support and SAP consultants would have you believe, the underlying database is still just a database, and SAP utilities are not required to manage it.

>From my previous experience with SAP and the Earlywatch
program, I would say that the farther SAP stays away from my databases, the better. :)

And as long as you don't mind relying on Oracle support to get the application running again after a recovery. If you use the SAP provided tools, SAP will assist with recoveries. If not, you're on your own...
