ACCEPT MS NUMBER PROMPT 'Enter the MS >' Enter the MS >2163836567

select col1,col2...from
where ms=&ms

old 2: WHERE MS = &MM
new 2: WHERE MS = 2.4e5

when we enter the number as 2163836567 it gets changed to decimal number in the new value and the query fails.
this is happening in the sqlplus client 8.1.5 but works fine on sqlplus 8.1.7 client

no environment variables have been set.how to get this solved

thanks
