I thought about sending the stuff I do where the sqlplus gets run in the background and use the ksh jobs command to check on it. But the original question had the word "batch" in it.

Batch?
BATCH?
What's batch?!

Unix don't do no stinkin' batch.
We got scripts; we got cron jobs; but NOOO batch.
