Then as one "flyer" to another, I'll pass along a tip. If you moved the stuff by letting Oracle create you a 9i database and using export/import, study spfile. Simple once you understand it. Pull your hair out till then. Also, you'll need to use sqlplus instead of svrmgrl, but you've figured that one out by now.

Nope, I don't pay the Larry tax. I need to move production systems to 9i and while I have done this on the fly, it didn't count. Now I want to go back and do homework so maybe less will hit the fan.

My moves from 7, 8, and 8i have been pretty uneventful, but as Star Wars folks say, "I got a bad feeling about this."
