Lyndon:

In my experience, I've been on both sides (Developer and DBA) for a long time (developer in Oracle 5 and 6), I've always tried to normalize as much as possible at first and give in slowly for whatever reason requires it rather than trying to get more normalization down the path of system development. (This will RARELY happen). I'm sure others will disagree, but this is my experience.

Question to all you practical DBA's out there: Is is slower or faster to normalize or not?
