I dont think WAFL is raid 4...as Robert said its on top of RAID4.

Some tips on NAS...
1. If you use 14*72 GB disk array, try using 28*36GB disk arrays...the lower end will provide you more spindles. Speed is directly propotional to no. of spindles.
2. There are rumors that you dont have the feature of extending volume size in NAS as you can do in SAN(or with Vertias Volume manager). This is not exactly true. In NAS they there is this QTREE concepts that solves this issue. You can add disks on the fly with NAS and configure it under QTREE.
