Oracle-L: Strange ORA-12545 ??

Guys,

Machine OSRV - Win2K Adv. Server with 8.1.6. oracle server ; listener port is 21717

oracle was newly installed and IMPorted a database.

Machine OCLT - RH linux 6.2 machine with 8.1.5 oracle client

though,

	PING is OK from OCLT to OSRV.
	TNSPING is OK from OCLT to OSRV.

I am not able to connect from SQLPLUS on OCLT to OSRV.

The Error was ORA-12545 Connect failed because target host or object does not exist

CASE 1# but i am able to connect to OSRV from oracle client on another windows machine. AND
CASE 2# if i change the LISTENERT PORT on OSRV to 21818, i am able to connect from OCLT (using SQLPLUS) to OSRV.

what may be the reason for CASE #1 and CASE #2 ?? why is it so ?

Moreover in the Listener log of OSRV , i found :

10-APR-2003 09:28:57 * service_register * memb * 0
10-APR-2003 09:35:39 * service_died * memb * 12547
TNS-12547: TNS: lost contact

what does this mean ?

help me guys.this needs to be solved soon.
