DOH, looks like we got one of them Duhvelopers!!!

Bashing Duhvelopers is a favorite past time of DBA's and I believe for good reason:

  1. we normally have no control over them but they have immense impact on our lives
  2. they treat the DBA like a mushroom (keep them in the dark, feed them manure (I'll be politically correct), and then CAN them when things go wrong)
  3. Duhvelopers are always right, never make mistakes, and are always efficient. Read more properly as they never have the time to do it right, but they always have the time to blame others. As in "the code is right, that's what they asked for", or "damned database, who told it that was the foreign key".

I could go on for probably another hour or two but them our e-mail server would toss the fur ball (damned Microsoft can't their SQL*Server/Exchange handle a message that big??) The biggest reason is that I came from that camp into being a DBA and if there's an arrogant, prim Donna way of approaching/irritating a DBA, I'VE DONE IT.

it is ridiculous that the this thread is doing more of developer bashing than anything else ... but of course, lesser mortals like developers just exist to please the almighty DBAs, who always are the supreme pinnacle of knowledge and enlightenment ...

Dick,

Also let me re-iterate ... we can't convince 'them' that their code is less-than-optimal. It is the stupid database that ...
