RE: dbshut script - shutdown or shutdown immediate

I also started doing this a couple months ago and have not had a shutdown hang since.

We do shutdown abort. But we do checkpoint before shutdown abort i.e,

alter system checkpoint;
shutdown abort;

Then, while bringing up, we do ----
