A lot of traffic on this one. Sorry if I missed this point, but it seems important to me, and appears not to have been mentioned.

"Ensure that the work you do on the db is focussed on meeting your company's business objectives."

Then start reading the list of predominantly technical do's and don'ts, with the above as the referenceing qualification.

Applying that test in our situation, the priorities of the various list submissions most certainly vary.
