sys.filext$ has to be joined to to the dba_data_files view.

however, if no tablespace has ever been put into autoextend mode, filext$ won't exist.

what I've done in the past to ensure the queries will work is to put a datafile into autoextend mode (this creates filext$), then take it out. filext$ is not dropped once created, even if there are no rows in it.

then you can do the join. If a datafile is IN filext$, it is set for autoextend
