Programming languages that make DBA's lives easier: The ones you already know and feel comfortable with.
(Of course Oracle connectivity is a basic requirement.)

Programming languages that make DBA's lives HARDER: The ones forced on you by others.
The ones that you don't know which are harder to learn, harder to read, and/or have a lower productivity quotient: C; Java; Perl. :-)

Programs that make DBA's lives hellish:
The ones written by someone else. Especially poorly written programs/scripts

with poor documentation and poor technique.

Attitudes which make a DBA's life easier: Insatiable curiosity and the joy of learning new things.
