It's just amazing to me the ideas that people latch on to and will defend with their very lives. I had, long ago, ae DBA manager that worked for a client, who was just sure that object oriented databases were the wave of the future. He blasted Oracle all the time because it didn't have OO constructs (this was before the 8 days)... never mind that his Oracle databases performed much better than his other "Object oriented database"..... :-) He wanted to throw Oracle out solely on this basis.... fortunately, his boss found his reasoning to be less than understandable.

Cheers!

PHB's? I looked it up and all I could find that fit was "Psycho Hose Beast". Is that correct?

I can't imagine why they would want to replace Oracle with Teradata.

It's expensive. It runs only on NCR or Windoze.

The architecture is nothing special.

I imagine the PHB's had their fingers in those moves.

Been there, got the T-shirt, now it's a dust rag.

Teradata Steals Oracle's Data Mart Users ...

Teradata pushes consolidation and woos away Oracle customers. But Oracle strikes back. Sort of. Will bean counters surf the Web with Excel? Will Steve Ballmer and Larry Ellison become immortal?
