RE: Oracle OID and Windows Active Directory

"Manually"??? What about the "Oracle Directory Integration Server" as
specified in Chapter 30 of the Oracle Internet Directory Administrator's Guide Release 9.2 (Part Number A96574-01)??? I thought that's specifically what it was for, but I've been second guessing Oracle Support as far as OID since I dealt with it a year ago under 9.0.1.

Anyway, this "ODI" Server product is supposed to be able to make LDAP calls to remote LDAP DBs and sync up the remote LDAP to the local OID.

DON'T BACK DOWN FROM ORACLE SUPPORT ON YOUR OID ISSUES! We had many issues where Support would try and close out calls when no satisfactory answer was given. For example, in your TAR, Support said "Manually". If you would counter with "What about Oracle Directory Integration Server?", they would respond with "That needs another TAR". I also thought that there was a lack of in-depth knowledge of OID in Oracle Support, whether this was real or perceived. My apologies to the silent Oracle Support folks on this list, but that was my experience. I've had much better experiences in non-OID areas of Support.

Enough <soapbox> for now...GL!

Thanks Jesse.

Oracle Support said I could manually import LDAP files across to OID, they didn't say anything about the other way around.

As for hair, I lost much of mine, the rest I keep cropped short just for situations like this. It's too short to pull out.

I had another interesting answer from Oracle re. IPSec on Windows2000 and SSL, they tell me I probably only need SSL. I was wondering if I could run both.

"Ask Engineering about the possibility of going 105% on the reactor."
"Engineering says 105% possible, but not recommended."

Egad! It's probably possible, although I'm not too certain how you'll need it setup. When you say "work together", what functionality are you looking for? Not having used WAD before (great acronym), I'm not sure how it'll treat other LDAP flavors, but I'm reasonably sure that you can "replicate" WAD to OID. In fact, Oracle recommends this method for connecting Oracle to LDAPs other than OID.

Prepare to pull your hair out...

These are both supposedly LDAP 3 compliant, is it possible to make them work well together?

(I logged a TAR as well, am looking for comments).
