Regina - This is an issue we've just been struggling with. The first question is how your users are accessing the database? In our case it is an application server, Weblogic. Now most app. servers are capable of performing connection pooling, so if all the connections connect to the same Oracle userid, the connection pooling can perform most efficiently. In this case, the Java programs being served by the app. server will be performing the security.

Now, if you are using other web tools that don't use connection pooling and may not have as much security themselves, then the answer may be different.

Hi

I have a question for any of you involved in Web applications. I would like to know how many of you go for the single Oracle user for everyone approach, and how many of you create Oracle schemas for each user, and if you can, what was the major reason for choosing that approach. Any opinions you wish to contribute will be helpful.

Thank you,
Regina
