Re: instance shutdown problem ? (please help)

Hmm, I think the error is right there in a snippet fo the alert log in the poster's original message. ORA-205 "Error in identifying controlfile."

The database will not start because Oracle cannot find or access one or more of the controlfiles.

Are all the postings today about controlfiles?
