No such thing. What you are seeking is hard-and-fast "rules" (a la the rule-based optimizer), which is going obsolete and for good reason...

Rather, it would be better to understand the situations in which each type of join works well and the situations in which each type of join works poorly. There is lots of good documentation on this in the "Oracle Server Tuning" references online at http://otn.oracle.com...
