Oracle 7.3.4 crash

I had an interesting problem this morning with a 7.3.4.4 database on Win2K.

It stopped working at 10:16 this morning.

In archive log mode. Lightly loaded, 3-4 log switches a day

After some investigation, it appears that 1 log file and 2 control files were changed to read only (and hidden).

Would get an unable to read file error when trying to start the database.

When I changed the read only flag on the files, the database started.

Nothing jumped out at me from the logs.

The site is having some virus problems, but this machine is apparently clean.

Another instance on the same server (not archive log mode) was unaffected.

We have been using 7.3.4.4 on NT/Win2K since 1999 on multiple sites and never seen one like this.

I'm trying to get better access to the server that had the problem so I can better poke around in the logs.

In the mean time, has anyone seen anything like this before?

Thanks
