Could it possibly be another bug using Oracle on a P4? I had been running our backup Names on my pitiful P3-800 Win2K box under 8.1.7, and for months now under 9.0.1 with no problems other than the usual Windohs flares.

Do you have the Event Log service started under Win2K ("WinTuke") in order to check for pathetic unhelpful event messages like:

The OracleOraHome90NamesRJNAMES service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No action.

Anything in %ORACLE_HOME%\network\log?
