Wait event problems

Oracle 8.0.5.0.0
Tru64 v4.0f  

We are running a job and statspack reports show that our only problem (it is running like a dog) is the following  

SQL*Net more data from client.  

Done some reading and still none the wiser. Anyone else had this sort of problem and if so how did you get around it ??
