Well I think that's exactly it. I felt much more comfortable in the States not
speaking non-perfect english than my wife feels here with her non-perfect german.
In the States I got more of a "Oh, where are you from ... how interesting ..."
reaction, while she get's (in Germany that is) more of an "Oh. Another foreigner
... why don't you go back where you come from" reaction. Although, I guess it can depend on the area you live in both countries.
