Ravi,

Try changing the next extent size to something other than its current setting, then change it back to what it was, and you should see any/all temp space not currently in use freed up. Coalesce only merges adjacent space, and not-in-use temp space is not freed up until someone needs it.

MY DB is 8.1.7 on AIX, TEMP space is not being realeasd after sort even after alter tablespace <name> coalesce. TEMP space was created as temporary.

We didn't event put ant events to not to clear. Please let me know if there is any problem.
