You can create an access db that acts as a passthrough from excel to oracle, access uses the odbc driver and excel is using the ole method (or something like that). I thought there was some ODBC driver to do this that worked pretty well.
someone correct me if I m wrong.

Very, very bad idea. Do everything inside Excel. Moreover, you can do graphics.
