Hi,

I have no idea how to do that. Do I have to CREATE DATABASE
again ?

Oh ya.. the Oracle is the same with the old one no changes.

Just restore the database files from tape backups into the new mount-points on the EMC. No need for exp/imp or any "migration strategies" for upgrading from Solaris7 to Solaris8, though I strongly recommend searching MetaLink for any issues with this Solaris upgrade (or log a TAR)...

This is "test/dev" that you are going to try this on first, not "production"?

Hi,

Our organization decide to upgrade our system the spec is like this: Old system
OS: Solaris 7,
Sun Cluster 2.2,
2 x Sun E4500,
2 x Sun A5200
to new system
OS: Solaris 8 with the latest patches
Sun Cluster 2.2,
2 x Sun Fire 4800,
EMC 8530 Currently our Oracle binary files (Oracle Home) installed in A5200 (Sun external storage). And all the data files in this storage too. As for our new machines we plan to install Oracle Home both Sun Fire 4800 in the local hard disk.
Can you please give me advises for my database migration strategy, should I use Exp, Imp or do you have any advise please? Any URL I can refer.

Thank you very much.

Sinardy
