Thats fine for expensive sql...but waits can be a whole lot more than that...

(Trivial example)

session 1: delete from blah where x = 1;
session 2: delete from blah where x = 1;
session 3: delete from blah where x = 1;
etc

The wait stats will quickly show up the problem here...
