It's becoming more and more difficult to justify the cost of Oracle, and any IT project, these days. I work for an extreme example (tightwad company with a ton of cash). They don't believe in spending a lot of money on IT because it hasn't paid off for them in the past and they've had clowns running everything. (It's been done incorrectly for 30 years.)

If anyone here outside of my team knew about MySQL that's what we'd probably be using, and I'd be working someplace else. Mgmt was thrilled when I told them that I could get Perl for free and save them the cost of a C compiler. (Then they yanked 2 cpu's from my production box. But I digress...)
