Really? I've heard the same thing. Spent a *lot* of time with 9.x versions a few years ago.

I have a 10.7 system here. It's pretty small, and HR only, but I never do anything with it other than make sure it's up. It's had zero maintenance from an apps perspective since I've been here. ( June 2001 )

>From what I understand, the task is daunting keeping a release up to date. They've really built a beast. When you hear people on this list talking about "APPS DBA's", you get the feeling that it is something special.

Oracle Wants Users to Hand over Apps Management

Putting muscle behind the outsourcing model of application management, Oracle Corp. said it is starting an international campaign to persuade customers to hand over maintenance of their Oracle software.

"We have decided to go in and actively go after our installed base and tell
them that this is a better way to [run Oracle applications]," said Jeff Henley, Oracle's chief financial officer, speaking to financial analysts in
