Gerardo,

The output is different for these commands on solaris 2.8 and 2.6

Ex:

On Solaris 2.8 uname -i returns

SUNW,Ultra-Enterprise-10000

Howver on solaris 2.6 it returns

SUNW,Ultra-4

I was able to get the exact model using /usr/platform/sun4u/sbin/prtdiag as posted by Ian and Kurt, irrespective of the version..

But thanks for responding..

uname -a

will give more complete information.
