Complete Refresh of Materialized view taking long time

Hi,

We are trying to refresh 2 MV'S and they are taking more than 23 hrs to refresh and consuming 100% cpu....is this behaviour of using 100% CPU is normal.....
if we run the query to create view it takes only about 5 min to run... What can be the possible reasons of this behaviour.....
