There have been a few posts in the past claiming that copying datafiles from HP to SUN and vice versa was okay.
However, I never received anyone's reply when I asked them how many Production Databases they have transferred using this method.

Experimenting is fine but one can't run business on such experimentation.

I thought exp/imp was the only way to go, but I feel much more confident now. That was also Oracle's response.

BTW, I think they have changed their thinking on this issue anyway.
