>From what I have heard from a board member of the Norwegian OUG in Madrid two years ago, Oracle's marketing strategy is quite the opposite of Larry's: instead of having a single, mega 'OracleWorld' event in the US, they have gone for several ones (including, if I remember well, parallel 'OracleWorld' conferences last year in Berlin, Paris, Madrid and Milan. The three last ones were Mickey Mouse conferences, Larry was in Berlin - but broadcasted 'live' to the other sites). Cost-cutters at Oracle have decided that they could no longer sponsor the EOUG conferences with all these pure-Oracle conferences. The problem was the other sponsors (hardware manufacturers), who were likely to follow Oracle (especially those which are not in the best of financial health). Hence the 'new business plan'.
