I always think that thinking in IT is like a huge pendulum in one of those granfather clocks - swing one way this year, swing the other way the next, and back again we go! Whatever direction it swings, there has to be some springs and gears and wheels that makes it all work. DBAs are a small but important part of that clock - we only have to watch out for that piezo-electric crytal and LED/LCDs that *may* make us moving parts redundant.
