Oracle standby strange behavior

Hi,
I ran into a strange behavior of a standby database. On the primary db I have an application schema and a query schema. All tables from the appl schema have public synonyms and a grant select to public. User query is created with connect and resource roles. Once I switch over to the standby db , and put it in read only mode, and then connect to the query user, I can not perform a select against 2 of the 35 tables. I get object OBJECT_NAME does not exist.

I can connect to the system user on the standby database and I have no problem selecting from all the tables.

Any idea what am I missing??

Yuval.

Rachel IS kind but her words are also true and I think this was her main focus in this case.  ;-)

My Alomari book was for v7 and was good but is now dated... Is it up to date for 8i/9i?

I would perhaps suggest Oracle Performance Tuning 101 instead of Rich's book (if you had to make a choice).

the 101 book conforms most closely to Oracle's current thinking on performance tuning
