Jared,

My apologies for this being posted to the on-topic list. I read your request to take this off-topic after I'd sent it.

Apologies,
Kev.

Before you go slagging people off! Ensure you know their name!

If that was an email I sent 6 months ago (not sure, there are a few Kevins on the list),
then fine. But I think you'll find that a) you had to search back 6 months for a question from me
b) how many others did you find? I'll wager a packet that you'll probably find less than 10 questions
from me over the period of 6 months. In fact it's probably less than that. Now try searching for answers
I have made an attempt to give. How many scripts I've provided for people over that period of time.
Admittedly it won't be too many, but it'll probably be far more answers than questions!

The email you quote below doesn't change my argument. The argument is that the person has not
tried rtfm or web sites to get this information. I continually use www.orafaq.com or otn.oracle.com, or
books. The email was written trying to respond to someone's question. In essence the email is correct
until I mentioned analyse which as you know (and everyone else at that time knew) was a heap of
bollocks! However, what you fail to point out is that fact that I was actually making an attempt to
help someone. Something that the individual we are talking about hasn't done yet!!

So Sam, nice try...but unfortunately this email doesn't mean a thing (other than the fact that I didn't
think before mentioning the analyse command).

To our resident Oracle Expert who just 6 months (July 26 2001) ago posted the following e-mail

If I remember rightly, deleting rows from the table does NOT free up tablespace. In order to do that you have to trunctate the table (although this of course deletes all data from the table)...I can't for the life of me remember how you adjust the space the table is actually using after doing a delete...(to everyone else) would an analyze work?

Kev.

"would and analyze work", leave it out kev(or thomas), my sides are splitting Im laughing that much"
"Dude you really are a sage"
I agree dude, you tell them beginners how u became such an expert in 6 months and didn't come out with stupid ****** comments like above, and dude, explain more about this defrag, space adjusting tool "the analyze command":

Unfortunately I only got dragged into this because I just saw one of your rude replies and I was having a bad day and didn't like your attitude., I have no idea about the guy you were slagging off as I don't get time to read all the posts, but it looks like 6 months ago you were no better than him, and nobody on the list, I recall, treated you with the contempt that you actually deserved.

As somebody on the list said "opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one and they all stink" (classic ,classic quote):

Anyhow I rest my case Kev (or thomas):
