  There fore Java is
  installed.
   
  I think this might have something
  to do with Oracle not able to create /tmp/Orainstall/jre/bin/jre on its own   even thought there are enough permission and disk space.    
  Any help is
  appreciated

could u check the value of "JRE_LOCATION" in Disk1/install/oraparam.ini from the distribution?
