RE: Oracle 8.1.7 install failure on Compaq Tru64

I have installed 8.1.6 and 8.1.7 on Tru64 5.1. I do not have /cdrom/bin/jre on the 8.1.7 cd.
which jre returns:
/usr/bin/jre

> ls -al /usr/bin | grep jre

lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     system        22 Mar 13  2001 jre -> ../opt/java118/bin/jre
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     system        27 Mar 13  2001 jre-taso ->

../opt/java118/bin/jre-taso_g
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     system        24 Mar 13  2001 jre_g -> ../opt/java118/bin/jre_g

Regarding chipsets, we are using EV6.7.

We are trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on Compaq Tru64 with 0.S. 4.0F with the latest patch kit, and the EV5.6 chip set. The install just bombs off at 56% complete. No error messages, log messages, or trace files (hasn't gotten far enough to create ORACLE_HOME). The install works fine on another machine with the EV6 chip set. Compaq and Oracle say that EV5.6 should be acceptable, and haven't provided much in the way of resolution. If you are curious which chip set you have, enter the command "/usr/sbin/psrinfo -v". Any information on this would be helpful. Thank you. Dennis Williams
