OK,
The standard for as long as I can remember is that V_$xxxx are SYS owner views on the underlying V$xxxx object. On top of that are the V$blah synonyms for the V_$blah views. I assume that the same standard holds for X_$/X$ objects.

Always been a bit confused about this to be honest - Maybe Steve Adams or someone can clear it up. The X$ type objects are actually listed under ALL_VIEWS as x_$BLAH, and not listed under ALL_TABLES..

Looking at a list of all of the objects within the SYSTEM tablespace there is also no mention of x$ tables or indexes either.

I have always thought and said that both the x$ and v$ objects are views based upon the tables stored in the SYSTEM tablespace..

Then again - as you say - I could be wrong too..

Anybody know the definitive answer?

Cheers

Mark

The v$ and x$ objects are views not tables, therefore they won't show up.
