Generating a SQLLDR Sequence Number

Tom:

Ran into another problem. I need to generate a sequence number for one of the DB columns. Here is the CTL code:

document_number sequence (max,800000,1),

It runs but I keep getting the 800000 that doubles for each record (800000, 1600000, 3200000, etc.). The book only shows the syntax but doesn't give an example of how it works.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ken

Ken

Did you look at the Sql*Loader log file? Maybe all your records were rejected and placed into the .bad file? Does a .bad file exist? Sql*Loader does not really consider rejected records an error - it just moves them there.

Hope this helps.

I am working on a control script that I have restricted to only loading 5 records as a test. Basically I am taking data from the load file and putting it into a table SQL Loader runs and gives me this.

SQL*Loader: Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production on Mon Dec 3 15:22:26 2001

(c) Copyright 2000 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.

Commit point reached - logical record count 5

When I do a select on this table I get no rows selected.

I don't get an error message from SQL Loader.

So any ideas as to what the problem is?
