You can. I had it running on many boxes at Fujitsu (before they shut their doors that is).

Only thing to keep in mind is memory utilization. Oracle 32 bit will only allow you to utilize 1.75G total (all instances). There is a thing called memory windows on HP that removes that but puts a restriction of 1G per instance. Not sure if there is an equivalent on Sun.

Hi -

We are about to upgrade a Unix box (Sun Solaris) to version 8 (2.8). Someone mentioned that we can't run the 64-bit version because that would require the 64-bit version of Oracle. I thought that you could run the 32-bit version of Oracle on a 64-bit operating system.

Am I wrong?

Thanks-
Lisa
