Hi,

If I have shutdown my database doesn't that mean that all the smon, pmon processes will be killed???

After I shutdown my db and I do a ps -ef | grep ora I still see pmon, smon, lgwr etc processes.

I am running HP-UX and v 8.1.7

Cheers,

Sujatha
