Well, what better could it
be when I get a bus  every 5 minutes during peak hours and

every 10 minutes during
off-peak ??
I have visited New Jersy
and Richmond in the US and I have seen that it is very difficult
to commute there if u dont
have a car which is the reason getting a car remains the one of

the priorities for anybody
emigrating there.

I live in UK (Leeds) and frankly I would disagree with   everything you have said (no offense intended!!). DBA   salary differs depending on skill and location. I would have thought that   mid-level DBA for non London/Scotland  area is as you say £30-35K/annum.   From contractor rates I would say lower in Scotland and London could range   from £35-55K.
Banks , city instititution may pay more but I am sure it is   very hard getting in there.
As for transport I have worked in Nottingham 6 months ago (for   Logica) and I don't see the public transport system there any better than   Leeds,Manchester,London etc. They are all pretty poor. Unfortunately the   underlying transport infrastructure has been left underfunded and badly   managed for much too long.

Well, if u r in London, u wont feel the difference. I am in   Nottingham in the Midlands and I can assure u that the   cost of living here is low compared to the US. So is   true for most of the other UK cities like Manchester,   Sheffield, Glasgow etc... Secondly, since the public   transport system is so good in the UK, u can save   money on ur car expenses if u wish to.   Samir Sarkar Oracle DBA - Lennon

cost of living is low?   I didn't see prices that   low or different than the US when I was in London...   did something change in the last year or so?
