From pnbarne@bcbso.com Thu, 04 Oct 2001 07:53:56 -0700 From: Peter Barnett Date: Thu, 04 Oct 2001 07:53:56 -0700 Subject: Re:RE: Oravle vs. Informix In-Reply-To: Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain Many of the features in Oracle8i are the result of Oracle pirating away Informix developers. If DB2 is able to get the same advantages/features into DB2 we could have some real competition in the database world. This would be a very good thing! Especially, since I have two tars in that require backport patches to 8.1.7 for features that simply do not work. Maybe Oracle will be more attentive to their software if there is another credible product on the market, such as DB2. IBM has the technical talent, management skill and resources to work in a grown up world that MS has always lacked. The next few years could be really fun!!!!
