Hi all,

I am new to Oracle and am having problems getting started. I have installed Oracle (8.1.7) on a Windows 2000 Server and have no problems connecting on that machine (without specifying a host string). However, when I try to connect to it remotely (on a different domain) I get and error (ORA-12514: TNS:listener could not resolve SERVICE_NAME given in connect descriptor). I tested the listener and it is running. I have searched all over for help and cannot find any. I am simply tryin to connect remotely in order to begin developing VB apps in the future. Thanks for any input...
