Ok, this is 8.1.6 no patches applied on solaris. Global Names = false
No db_domain name set
Altered the global names in the database and get test.us.oracle.com still and still get us.oracle.com extenstion of the link.

Where else do I look or do? This will be a private database link.

Thanks

Kathy

The extension on a database link is always the domain of the database it is created in.
