Everyday I find something new from this list. Today - that red hat cannot handle more than 1 processor :-)

Take what you have, strip out one processor since I don't think Red Hat can use
more than one processor, and have fun. BTW: Your duhvelepors will probably see
a 100% performance boost since Linux has a lot less overhead than NT.

Hi list,

I want to migrate our developer databases from NT 4.0 (Oracle 8.1.5) to Redhat Linux 7.1 (Oracle 8.1.7). My question is, which hardware do I need for the linux machine to hit the same performance than on NT machine.

Hardware NT machine:
2 * PIII 500 processor
1 GB Ram
one RAID 5
